It's a bit hard to see in this photo, but this was a "double tulip" that bloomed in our garden a few years ago. This was taken on the OLD digital camera, so pre-2005, probably spring of 2004 but I forgot to check the date on the photo and I am being lazy right now.This was not one of those fancy double ruffly type tulips, but two flowers coming up off of one stem. The stem split apart about 4 inches below the flowers, but from there down it was fused into a single stem. There was not even really a seam or ridge in it -just a single stem splitting into two flower heads.
Never seen anything like it. And it's never happened since.
Of course this tulip was right off the driveway - so who knows what kind of "run off" it was fertilized with.
At least it did not glow in the dark. Now THAT would be interesting!

How cool! I've never heard of that before. Hmm fertilizer indeed! Glad you got a picture of it. It really was pretty.
Very pretty! The stupid gophers ate all my tulips.
That's just beautiful. Sure wish I could grow even one pretty flower! My house is where they come to die.
