Introducing - ZOE!

Zoe is my brand spanking sparkly new Janome Sew Precise - she purrs like a kitten, free motions like a dream!

We finally got her home around 8:45 last night - after test driving one, sending her older sister Melody in for service, and shopping the fabric side of the store, and picking up some accessories, we finally headed to dinner a little after 7:00pm. We had a nice lingering dinner at Chili's with the Munchkin - it was his first Chili's experience and he loved the "triangles" (tortilla chips") in the basket, and devoured his grilled cheese. Hubby and I put a hurting on a platter of fajitas. Yum!!

It was my night to read to the Munchkin, so Zoe did not get to come out of her box until close to 10:00 PM. (hence the picture of a tired looking me in my jammies)

Her bobbin wound easily, the automatic needle threader is a wonder for tired eyes, and I grabbed some fabric to play. Her tension was spot on right out of the box, and I quickly tested out all the stitches I could with the standard foot. Then - instead of changing to another "standard" foot and trying new stitches, I jumped right to my darning foot and tried free motion quilting for the first time ever.

Oooohhhhhh - smooth!!! I am in love!!!!!

...ok...why Zoe???

When I told Hubby I "needed" a new machine because my old one was going wonky and I "needed" to be able to do free motion, he jokingly asked what the traditional 14th anniversary gift was. So we looked it up - geeks that we are - and discovered it was ivory. I asked him if an ivory colored sewing machine case counted. He said yes.

So - you all know I have spent time in Japan. Well, ivory comes from elephants, and the Japanese word for elephant is Zou. Zou --> Zoe...

And - since her older sister needed a name now so she would not feel slighted, the Singer has now been dubbed "Melody"

Yeah - geek - that's me!

Congrats!!! What an awesome anniversary gift! I'm sure she will get lots of love and attention. I just knew it had to be a new Janome. Have fun. I haven't used that machine much, but I'm sure it'll purrr just like mine.

Hooray! Welcome to the family Zoe! I know you will have loads of fun together. Can't wait to see what you stitch up.

Tell the Munchkin that Aunt Sue and Uncle Jim had "triangles" the other night too. We loved them with the spinach dip they came with. Nice that you got your new machine AND dinner out!

Oh this is awesome! It sure does help to have nice equipment that can do cool things! Love the name too. I need to come up with a name for mine. She is old though so it would have to be an old name;)
